Watercolor of Pacific, Missouri home
Just completed on June 10th, this 9″ x 12″ watercolor house portrait of a frame home situated on five acres in Pacific, Missouri will be given to my client’s sister for a birthday gift. I added sunshine, shadows, and flowers in full bloom to really make the property come alive!
This portrait was created for a redemption of a gift certificate I donated to a silent auction for a fundraiser to benefit the Missouri Civil War Museum, located in Jefferson Barracks Park in St. Louis. If you appreciate our Civil War history, I highly recommend you visit there sometime — it’s a very impressive museum! For more information, visit their website http://mcwm.org/

Portrayal of Young Couple’s First Home
Completed on June 1st, this 9″ x 12″ watercolor portrait depicts the first home purchased recently by a young couple, Bernadette and Steve. Located in a quiet neighborhood in St. Louis, Missouri, this tasteful split level design house has a large, nicely landscaped front yard with two gorgeous rose bushes and a religious statue of Mary — a meaningful personal touch for the couple. I hope they will be delighted with their custom house portrait and proudly display it in their new home. Congratulations and best wishes to them!

Visitor in my art studio
Look who spent time with me in my art studio today — Max!
He’s visiting while our 21 year old son is in town and Max sure has grown since he was here last! Such a great and very well-behaved dog! I appreciated his company while I began a new watercolor house portrait… he was very content to lay near my art table and keep an eye on me — literally, because he was born with only one. I’m sure going to miss Max when he goes back to our son’s house in a couple days, but I’m looking forward to having him here once our son graduates college next year. And don’t you love how he matches my rug?

Grand Hotel des Balcons in Paris, France
Given the work I do, I am fortunate to portray some very interesting buildings, and such is the case with the portrait I completed on May 20th — the elegant Grand Hotel des Balcons in Paris, France. The 11″ x 14″ watercolor was commissioned by my clients and their family members to be a gift to their beloved relatives, Denny and Kathy, who will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary at the hotel next month. The artwork includes my client’s request that the couple be depicted standing at the front entrance of the hotel, which is a very sweet and thoughtful personal touch! The couple will be treating their whole family to stay with them at the hotel to share their joyous special occasion — what a wonderful and generous thing to do and what great memories they will create together!
While researching the property prior to beginning the watercolor portrait, I learned some interesting information that makes me want to visit some day. This 19th century, six- story Parisian townhouse hotel has elegant exterior architectural features and gets it’s name from french doors leading to small balconies outside most guest rooms, complete with ornate black wrought iron railings holding decorative containers of flowers — so lovely and picturesque! The interior features an Art Nouveau inspired lobby with carved wood paneling, stained glass windows, and decorative mirrors which make it warm and inviting to guests.
The hotel is located on a quiet street in the Saint-Germain/Latin Quarter Districts with dozens of charming antique shops, quaint bookstores, restaurants and cafes, and a quick walk to the Notre Dame Cathedral and Luxembourg Gardens — so much to do and see! For more information on this gorgeous hotel, visit http://www.balcons.com/
It was a joy to portray this property and be a small part of this special occasion. Congratulations and best wishes to the happy couple and their whole family!

Happy Mother’s Day 2016!
Happy Mother’s Day to all Moms!
I hope each of you were able to spend the day with your children and made to feel special and loved! I was able to visit my sweet Mother-in-law at her house along with two of our three grown children, Lauren and Matthew, shown here in the photo. Our youngest son Chaz is away at college and will be home in a few days and I am looking forward to seeing him again! I thank God every day for all three of them!
