Photograph for Portrait of Sorority House
This photograph is of the Gamma Phi Sorority House on the campus of the University of Missouri (Mizzou), and is the view I am working from for the watercolor portrait commissioned by the House Director, Kim Berry. I had the pleasure to meet her in person two weeks ago and discuss the details and her wishes for the artwork, especially the flowers and plants to be portrayed in full bloom, which were not the day the photo was taken. To create the most aesthetically pleasing portrait, the tree obscuring the front of the house will be removed, as well as the cars and vertical drain spouts.
Today, Monday February 27th, watercolor will be added to the preliminary pencil sketch I completed over the weekend, and I’m looking forward to making the property fully come alive over the next few days — the finished artwork will be posted later this week when complete!

Watercolor of Family’s Former Home
Completed on February 6th, this 10″ x 16″ watercolor painting depicts a traditional 2-story brick and frame home in Ballwin, Missouri. The artwork was commissioned by the previous owners, who wished to have a memento of the home they lived in when their children were young, and I hope this custom house portrait will bring them many sweet memories every time they view it!
Lovely Framed House Portrait
Very special thanks to Kim R., a recent recipient of a watercolor house portrait given to her as a gift, for sending this photo showing how nicely she framed her artwork! She picked out a beautiful mat and frame, and it’s now proudly displayed on a wall in the living room of her Kansas home. I appreciate her thoughtfulness letting me know she was delighted with her home portrait, and found the perfect place to hang it! I hope the painting brings her joy for many years to come. Thank you, Kim!
Pen and Ink of Tudor Style Home
On January 26th, I put the finishing touches on this 8″ x 10″ Pen and Ink illustration of a handsome English Tudor style residence in University City, Missouri. This custom house portrait was commissioned to be a gift to a young couple for their upcoming wedding — I love the distinctive look and hope they will too! Best wishes to them for many years of happiness in this home!
