Watercolor House Portrait Gift for Parents
I resumed my portrait schedule this week after spending a few wonderful days in San Diego, and just completed this watercolor house portrait on June 27th. This 9″ x 14″ painting portrays a lovely ivory stucco and brick residence in Ladue, Missouri and will be a gift to the homeowners from their daughter and son-in-law. The inclusion of the shadows from the trees add lively visual interest and drama! Learn More: Residential | Schools and Churches | Commercial Portrait

Visit to the San Diego Museum of Art
While at Balboa Park, I visited the San Diego Museum of Art and it was a memorable experience — so many wonderful works of art to see inside — wish I could have stayed the whole day! As you can see from this photo of the front entryway, the exterior is quite impressive too!

Beautiful Balboa Park in San Diego
Just returned on June 22 from a week in San Diego, California — what a beautiful place to visit! I saw several places of interest, including Balboa Park, a 1,200 acre cultural park just a few minutes from downtown San Diego that features 17 museums, several theaters, beautiful gardens, and the renowned San Diego Zoo. For me, the best part was the magnificent, ornate Spanish-Renaissance architecture throughout the grounds (of course!) — any of the buildings would make a gorgeous watercolor painting! Here are photos of three favorites. Balboa Park is a true paradise and definitely a “must see” if you go to San Diego! For more information, visit https://www.balboapark.org/

Watercolor Portraits of Vacation Homes
Summer is vacation time and a precious chance to be with family and friends making special memories together! For those fortunate to own a vacation home or lake house, an original watercolor portrait of the property would be a beautiful reminder of the time spent there among loved ones. A portrait of it would also make a thoughtful “Thank you” gift to the owners for warm hospitality received by a guest. Here are a few favorites I’ve painted. I too will be enjoying several days of vacation and will return to my studio on June 25, but you may still reach me at (314) 892-9221 with questions or to order your custom house portrait.

Pen and Ink Portrait of Sigma Chi Fraternity House
Completed on June 8, this 11″ x 14″ pen and ink illustration depicts the “home away from home” for the young men of the Sigma Chi Fraternity-Alpha Tau Chapter on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. This stately Federal style building was built in 1924 and made a very distinguished black and white portrait. The image will be reproduced on 8.5″ x 11″ prints and made available to current and alumni fraternity members for fundraising purposes and will make a wonderful keepsake and reminder of the years spent at the house. If you have a fraternity or sorority house you are fond of and would like it portrayed, call 314-892-9221 to order.
