Trip to Scenic Chattanooga, Tennessee

One day after returning from Sedalia, Missouri with my husband, my grown daughter and I drove to scenic Chattanooga, Tennessee and just returned on June 17. I am so glad we went — Chattanooga is a charming and scenic city and very pedestrian-friendly. It is nestled along the banks of the Tennessee River and surrounded by the Appalachian Mountains and the views are nothing short of breathtaking! In our five day stay, we visited impressive Rock City, went on a dinner river cruise, visited a shopping district with trendy boutiques and art galleries, and on our last night we joined a historic ghost tour of the downtown area — all fantastic experiences! I snapped lots of photos and perhaps one day I’ll paint a watercolor portrait of one of the many beautiful scenic views of nature that abound!
Visit to Sedalia, Missouri and a Historic Hotel

What an elegant and memorable hotel!
My husband and I recently visited Sedalia, Missouri and while there, stayed at the historic Hotel Bothwell — truly an elegant property! This brick seven story, Classical Revival building has the luxurious ambiance of it’s original heyday of the bygone 1920’s era and we were so charmed with the beauty of the décor. Originally built by John H. Bothwell in 1927, this hotel was the center of business and social activity in Sedalia for many decades and over the years, the hotel had many famous guests, including Harry S. Truman, Bette Davis and Clint Eastwood. In 1988 the property was bought by Doyle Furnell ( who once worked as a bell-boy there in his youth ) and restored the hotel to it’s original former glory of elegance with stylish and historical décor. This hotel is listed on the Department of Interior Register of Historic Places and the plaque is featured prominently at the front entrance. We happened to be there on June 10, which was the 95th anniversary of the opening of the hotel and it impressed upon us the specialness and importance this property has been to the Sedalia and the surrounding community all these past decades. If you are ever in the Sedalia area, I highly recommend staying there. For more information, visit https://www.hotelbothwell.com/
