This 9″ x 17″ pen and ink with watercolor portrait depicts King’s Ridge Christian School in Alpharetta, Georgia, a learning institution offering a college preparatory program for students Pre-K thru 12. The artwork will be a gift to the Headmaster who is relocating and will bring many fond memories of students, parents, and staff during his many years of dedicated leadership at this exceptional school. The theme for this issue is “Architecture”, and I was selected to be the featured artist this month — what an honor! Special thanks to Managing Editor Molly Godat, writer Gina Parsons, and photographer Colin Miller of Strauss Peyton for their talents creating this piece — they were all wonderful to work with and made it a great experience. Watercolor Portrait of Home in Flers, France
Completed on April 25, this 9″ x 13″ watercolor portrait of a home in Flers, France was a joy to paint! This portrait depicts the house in a small town in Normandy as it looked nearly 50 years ago when it was the childhood home of my client’s father from 1955 to 1973 and includes their yard filled with red roses along with their two cats. I hope he will be touched by her thoughtful and meaningful gift and the memories it will bring!
