July 14th ~ House portrait of property in historic Soulard neighborhood begun
Today I began a very special watercolor custom house portrait… a 3-story brick property built in 1870 located in the historic Soulard neighborhood in St. Louis, Missouri. This building belonged to my 81 year old uncle, and had been in the family for 59 years, and was just recently sold. Originally purchased by his mother in 1955, he and his own family lived there in the early 1960’s, then he rented it to a few families over the following years. The watercolor portrait will be a wonderful and very meaningful surprise for him, and one I know he will sincerely appreciate because he is sentimental. I will be working on the artwork this week, and will post when complete. I am looking forward to seeing the look on his face when he sees the portrait for the first time…. I better have a handkerchief ready.

Watercolor portrait of log cabin on Missouri farm
Just completed on June 27th… a custom watercolor portrait of a 2-story cabin on farm property in Missouri. This portrait was commissioned to be a gift to the long-time owner, and includes a red truck and several other items with special meaning to the recipient… an old-fashioned tiller, decorative plaque, and custom birdhouse. His BBQ grill and lawn chairs are also included! I could tell that this was a favorite place for family gatherings, and I hope the artwork reminds the owner of how very special this property will always be to his family!

Watercolor house portrait of ranch in Webster Groves, Missouri
Just completed on June 21st… an 11″x14″ watercolor portrait of an attractive ranch home in Webster Groves, Missouri. This custom house portrait was created for recipients of a gift certificate, and portrays the flowers and trees in full bloom, along with two nice personal touches — an Irish flag hanging at the front porch, and the owner’s small terrier laying on the lawn under the tree … what a special piece of artwork for the family!

Portrait of Cabanne House presented to bride and groom
This watercolor portrait is very special… it brought me so much joy to present the framed portrait of the Cabanne House to our daughter Lauren, and new son-in-law Jeff , on their wedding day on June 7th. They marveled that they were depicted in the artwork on the front porch, less than two inches tall, dressed in their wedding attire! This portrait made a truly wonderful gift they will have for many years to come!
