“Raise Our School Roof” fundraiser a big success!
Wonderful news — the “RAISE OUR SCHOOL ROOF “ Silent Auction fundraising event on October 3rd was a big success! Everyone, including my husband and I, had a great time with music, drinks, desserts and lots of interesting donated items to bid on! I was told by one of the organizers that enough additional funds were raised to proceed with the necessary tuckpointing and then begin to replace the roof of Our Lady of Sorrows School — so happy for the students!
Special thanks to all the winners of the Silent Auction items, including the house portrait Gift Certificate I donated, and to all who purchased a color print of my watercolor artwork of Our Lady of Sorrows Church! I was honored to have the opportunity to help the school, and thank you for letting me know how much it meant to you! Congratulations to Pastor Peter Blake, the dedicated event organizers, and everyone at Our Lady of Sorrows Church and School on a very successful event!
If you were not able to attend the event, but would like a color print of the church, contact the OLS rectory directly at 314-351-1600.

Pen and Ink rendering of traditional brick home
Just completed on September 27th… a 9″ x 12″ pen and ink rendering of a two-story traditional brick home in Creve Coeur, Missouri. My client commissioned the artwork to be a gift for his friends, and I hope they will be surprised and very pleased! The overwhelming majority of my customers request a watercolor portrait of their property, so I truly relish those times someone asks for a pen and ink portrayal, which offers a very distinctive look rich in details. This portrait will look really sharp matted in black.

Just completed on September 22… an 11″ x 14″ watercolor portrait of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in St. Louis, Missouri. This portrait was commissioned to be a gift for a former member of the parish who has fond childhood memories at this place of worship. As many of you know, I love portraying any kind of building, whether residential or commercial, and every so often, I am honored to be asked to portray a truly inspiring structure. This is one of them.
This brick and richly terracotta ornamented church is located seven miles southwest of downtown St. Louis. The design was inspired by the Basilica di San Paolo fuori le Mura ( St. Paul Outside the Walls) in Rome, founded in the 4th century by Emperor Constantine. The graceful arcade of the porch is typical of early Christian churches, however, the bell tower is modeled after the Northern Italian style of the 11th and 12th centuries because earlier churches did not have towers. The exterior was completed in 1928, and the magnificent interior was completed ten years later in 1938, by the architect Adolf L. Stauder, whose family architectural firm still exists today. The church and adjacent school are part of a wonderful parish community and I’m so glad… they happened to be where my siblings and I attended so many years ago. I hope the artwork brings much joy and warm memories to the recipient for many years to come.
