Watercolor of family home in Affton, Missouri
Yesterday, October 29th, I put the finishing touches on this portrait… an 11″ x 14″ watercolor of a large, attractive 2 -story home in Affton, Missouri, a small community located in south St. Louis County. The homeowners recently relocated to another city due to a great job opportunity for the husband, and the artwork was commissioned to have a keepsake to remember it. This home is very special to them — they built it twenty-five years ago, and raised their four children there — so many happy memories made inside those walls! The portrait includes all their colorful flowers along with Magnolia and Japanese Maple trees in full bloom as well as a decorative lamp post and bench on the porch, all adding to their warm memories.
On a side note, Judy, the woman who commissioned this portrait was a high school classmate and friend, and I was honored she asked me to portray her family’s former residence. This home also happened to be just a few blocks from my own family’s former home, where my husband and I raised our own three children before we moved in 2002. I understand the sentiments for Judy and her husband wanting this portrait, because I felt the same way when my family moved to another home — I had to have a portrait of it too, and it now hangs on the wall in our family room next to a portrait of our current home. I hope this custom house portrait will bring Judy, her husband and family many warm and wonderful memories of their years living and laughing at this residence. Best wishes to them in their new town and home!

Watercolor of home in Clayton, Missouri
Just completed on October 10th…. a custom-sized 14″ x 22″ watercolor portrait of a painted brick home in Clayton, Missouri that soon will no longer exist. The portrait was commissioned by homeowners to remember this home after it is torn down and replaced by the new residence that will be built soon. They will be saving the unique front entry door and sidelights, which have a beautiful leaded glass design, and all the kitchen cabinets, appliances and fixtures were donated to Habitat for Humanity to go to a good home. The wife is an avid gardener, so it was important to portray the trees, flowers and plants all in full, lush bloom so she could remember just how beautiful they were. I was truly honored they asked me to provide the artwork by which they will remember this residence.
