Watercolor of spacious brick home in High Ridge, Missouri
Just completed on December 21st — my final house portrait for Christmas 2015!
This 8″ x 11″ watercolor portrait of a large, newer home in High Ridge, Missouri, was commissioned by parents to be a gift for their son and daughter-in-law, and I hope they will be delighted with the representation. Even though a small format, the artwork is filled with lots of rich detail, including multi-toned bricks, stonework accents, and a tiny address plaque. And although the home faces north and never receives sun, I depicted it as if the sun were shining on it because it makes for a more pleasing and lively portrayal. It was an honor to provide this meaningful custom house portrait for their Christmas gift, and I hope it will be a cherished addition to their beautiful home.

Watercolor portrait of Woodbury, Connecticut home
Here’s the newest house portrait, just completed on December 16th …. a 10″ x 16″ watercolor of a shingle-style home in Woodbury, Connecticut that was commissioned to be a Christmas gift. Overlooking a picturesque lake and surrounded by mature trees, this property is a perfect piece of heaven on Earth! The colorful flowers in the foreground are a nice contrast to the neutral tones of the home’s exterior, and the late afternoon shadows create visual interest and drama.

Interesting and artistic house!
My birthday was this past weekend, and a good friend shared this photograph of a cake decorated in the design of a home on my Facebook page — she knew I would appreciate it! The cake designer/decorator did an amazing job — it’s way to pretty to eat! Notice the charming details — this cake took many hours to create and the decorator is a true and very talented artist. I hope whoever it was made for was thrilled!
