Every so often, a client will request something very personal and little different, as this 16″ x 20″ watercolor portrait from a few years ago. The family’s favorite holiday was Halloween, and wanted a fun and whimsical portrayal of their Seattle, Washington home as a haunted house — and I totally enjoyed painting it complete with goblins, witches , ghosts, a skeleton, a black cat and a rat scurrying across the roof at dusk! The family dog in the foreground even has a Halloween hat! I would have liked to be there to see the look on the kid’s faces when their parents showed them the artwork — they must be almost teenagers now, but I hope they still get a kick out of it!
