Brick family home in Saint Louis, Missouri

Completed on November 11, this home portrait depicting a brick residence in Saint Louis was commissioned by grown siblings to be a Christmas gift to their mom. She has lived in this house for many years and raised her children there, and I know the artwork will bring many sweet memories with her family.

 This custom house portrait was created a bit differently than my usual watercolors… it combines pen and ink line work with a watercolor overlay  and is an excellent choice for smaller portrait sizes, such as this 8″ x 10″.  The pen and ink technique allows for very detailed rendering in a small format, while the overlay of color adds visual “pop” — overall a very precise, distinctive look!
