On Monday, May 5th, I had the pleasure of meeting Jan Gerfen and presenting a framed color print of the original illustration I did of the William B. Nottelmann Auditorium. The recently new state-of-the-art performance facility, located on the campus of Mehlville High School in St. Louis Missouri, was named in honor of her father for his lifelong contribution and support in bringing music to the Mehlville School District, it’s students and the entire community. He opened his first music store, Nottelmann Music, in 1953 and provided students and schools with intruments, rentals, accessories, repair service and in-store lessons. Jan and her husband Dennis bought the store several years ago and continue to be a vital part of the community. I was honored to create the portrait of the building honoring him.
