Pen and Ink Portrait of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church

Completed on April 9th, this is the finished 11″ x 14″ pen and ink illustration of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church located in St. Louis, Missouri. I so enjoyed portraying the character of this place of worship with stone exterior and Gothic leaded glass windows. To create the most aesthetically pleasing portrait, tree branches gracefully draping from the upper areas were added to visually frame the church, and street signs, smokestack, chain link fence, and heavy shadow cast from adjacent building were omitted. The portrait was commissioned to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the church’s founding, and will be displayed in the museum at the Carondelet Historical Society along with other portraits of historic properties from the area. If you have a place of worship you would like to have portrayed, I would be honored to create it for you — call 314-892-9221 to discuss and order.
